Alter ego is a place that exists and evolves in the city of Alexandroupolis for many years. Its location has been stable for many years and has cultivated the sense of familiarity among its habitues. The removal to another place created the need to preserve and combine references from the decorative elements of its earlier renovations that have been popular to its audience. Therefore, these elements have been recreated and are now the main elements in the new space, such as the retro aesthetics of the 50s, the intense colors, the combination of geometric designs with floral and tropical themes on the fabrics, the themed frames, the custom made wallpapers designed by the architect with many virtual and surreal elements. The luminaires are the recostruction of their previous ones and create illumination on two levels, diffused with hanging luminaires and domestic style wall-mounted . Two great “themes” dominate the space, “flying dandies” of Oscar Wilde’s and Honoré de Balzac’s era with the figures of David Bowie, Jarvis Cocker and Brett Anderson composing a large collage of many forms of a utopian landscape and another large-scale peacock surrounding by a giant rainforest patchwork.
